RamCT Auditor

What is a RamCT Auditor Role?

An auditor in RamCT is someone who is not registered for the course but needs temporary access to a RamCT section.  Never add a person to a section as an Auditor if s/he intends to register for the class; this prevents the person from being added as a Student! When appropriate (see below), RamCT Instructors can enroll users as an auditor. 

When to use the RamCT Auditor Role:

  • Students finishing a grade incomplete
  • Guest lecturers who need access to your RamCT section for less than 30 days
  • College of Veterinary Medicine and the MBA program have special arrangements for extending access to students in the MBA/DVM program. Note to those managing this program: Please use eIDs to create auditors for the Vet Med classes, and Business IDs to create auditors for the Business classes.

When NOT to use the RamCT Auditor Role:

  1. Students waiting to add the course should not be added as an auditor; anyone added to a section in the Auditor role is prevented from being added as a Student! (Instead instructors can use a Visitor Account to provide temporary access for students awaiting registration.*see below)

  2. Guest lecturers who need access to your RamCT section for 30 days or more need to obtain a CSU Associates eID account. Details are on HR’s website, scroll down to the Unit 12: Associates section.

*RamCT Visitor Accounts

If necessary, instructors can use a RamCT Visitor Account to allow temporary access to a section while a student is waiting to add the course. Information on using RamCT Visitor Accounts.

Course Overrides and RamCT

If you provide a course override for a student remind the student that they need to register for the course.  Once officially registered their student enrollment will come over to RamCT.

What’s the same/different between the Auditor and Student roles in RamCT?

SAME: Both auditor & student…

  • are included in the grade book.
  • have the same access to all the content, links, assignments, assessments, etc.
  • have scores recorded in the gradebook & can take quizzes/assessments.

DIFFERENT :

  • An auditor’s grades are not included in the class statistics.
  • An auditor’s final grade will not pass from RamCT into ARIES.
