RamCT Requirements for Campus Computers and Computer Labs
To help insure RamCT’s continued success, we need campus computers to work well with the system. Would you please review your current computer builds and see if they meet the requirements listed below? Once you have a validated web browser on your systems you can use these steps to “tune” your browser to work properly with RamCT. Meeting these requirements will allow faculty, staff and students to access RamCT from CSU computers.
- Java Challenge
- RamCT and Windows Requirements
- RamCT and Mac OS X Requirements
- Demo Course for Testing Browsers
- Node Identification
- RamCT Coordinator Emergency Contact
Java Challenge
RamCT requires a fairly recent version of Java. Multiple versions of Java on a PC tend to cause eractic behavior in RamCT, though we recognize that you may have other programs that require an older Java version. See our Java page to obtain the recommended version for use with RamCT.
Some common issues related to multiple versions of Java:
- Browser freezes when trying to upload files.
- Cannot see the "My Computer" icon when uploading files.
- Chat and whiteboard items cannot be seen.
Demo Course for Testing Computer Settings
We have created a demo course in the new RamCT system that administrators can use to test the settings on computer browsers.
You can log in to a RamCT demo course by going to:
http://ramct.colostate.edu
User name: ramctdemo
Password: ramctdemo
- Under the “My RamCT” tab will be a course list.
- Click on the course called RAMCT Training Module - Student Tutorial.
- On the left side of the course are the Course Tools.
- Click on the Syllabus link to see if you can open the pdf document.
- Click on the Student Orientation link to see if you can view the listed documents.
- Click on the web links to go to the web pages listed.

Node Identification
To identify to which node a user’s RamCT session is connected, while in an open session the following link can be copy and pasted into the browser address field or clicked on:
http://ramct.colostate.edu/webct/applicationframework/clusterinfo.jsp
The node is identified in the first line under “Value”, such as “WebCTManagedNodeB” would be Node B. This information is useful in session issue troubleshooting.

RamCT Coordinator Emergency Contact
RamCT Coordinators may notify the central RamCT technical team of critical issues which require immediate resolution outside of business hours at:
Login with your eID credentials, provide your contact information and a brief description of the issue; you will be contacted within an hour so we can look into your concern immediately.
