WebCT to RamCT Course Migration

WebCT primary designers were given the opportunity to "migrate" a copy of their course to RamCT. Instructors will need to log in to this copy of their course in RamCT and prepare it for teaching.

Once your course is migrated instructors need to test and clean up all content in their Migrated Sections before Fall 2007. Use our easy guide which includes a checklist: “Getting Familiar with Your Migrated Course” located in the Material section of the RamCT web site. Note, eID login is required in order to access the document.

RamCT Migration Information:

JANUARY 2007 MIGRATION

In January 2007 over 2,500 WebCT courses were marked “Keep” during our fall 2006 “Keep/Delete” process and were migrated to RamCT. The titles of courses migrated in January begin with “MIG”. You can login to RamCT at http://www.RamCT.colostate.edu, to see if your course is on the new system. View a list of courses that were migrated in January.

Note: If you were a secondary designer on a WebCT course and would like access to a RamCT section, ask the primary designer to add you as a designer to their Migrated Section

MAY 2007 MIGRATION

WebCT designers were provided with another opportunity to migrate (or re-migrate) their WebCT course to RamCT. A copy of WebCT courses marked for migration will be moved to RamCT after the end of the Spring semester and will be available in early June 2007. The titles of courses migrated in May will begin with "MIGMAY".

Summer 2007 Migration

Summer instructors who use WebCT will be given the opportunity at the end of each summer term to migrate their summer WebCT courses to RamCT. Please check this website for updates.

We recommend choosing “Migrate” for your WebCT course if:

  • Your course was newly created in Spring 2007 and you want a copy in RamCT.
  • You developed content in your WebCT course throughout Spring 2007.
  • Your course had not been previously migrated.

NOTE: If your course was migrated in January and you choose to re-migrate that course in May 2007 this will OVERWRITE the January-migrated version.  If you did any course development in your January migrated course be sure to make a backup.

We recommend NOT migrating your WebCT course if:

  • Your course was migrated in January 2007 and you made no significant changes in your WebCT course during the Spring 2007 semester.
  • You began content development in your January-migrated RamCT course.
  • Your WebCT course content is minimal (e.g. syllabus & gradebook only). Instead you can start fresh in RamCT by requesting a Development Section.

To request migration of your WebCT course to RamCT, do the following by April 30, 2007:

Only courses marked with “Migrate” in the migration request system will be migrated in May.

An opportunity to migrate WebCT sections taught during the Summer 2007 will be available at the end of the summer semester.
