RamCT Section Types

There are four types of RamCT Sections:

  1. Migrated Sections
  2. Semester Teaching Sections
  3. CSU Training Sections
  1. "Migrated Sections" (MIG) are copies of WebCT courses that were moved from WebCT to RamCT.

  • Migrated Sections never include students. They are used to copy content forward into a new teaching section.
  1. A "Semester Teaching Section" starts as a blank RamCT section which must be requested each semester by the Primary Instructor.

  • Requests can be made once the Primary Instructor's teaching assignment is entered into ARIES by the Departmental Scheduler.
  • Content can quickly and easily be copied in from another section or content can be freshly created.
  • Teaching Sections are automatically populated with student registrations by ARIES about two weeks before classes start and are updated throughout the semester.
  • LONGEVITY: After a semester ends, a RamCT section will remain on the system for approximately two years to accommodate Grade Incompletes and copying content forward to other sections.

Why do I need to request a new RamCT Teaching Section each semester?

  • ENROLLMENT: Faculty and students are added/removed automatically in RamCT from ARIES information; this process requires unique RamCT sections each semester.
  • GRADES: Future plans are to send final grades from RamCT teaching sections to ARIES; this process requires unique RamCT sections.
  1. A "CSU Training Section" can be requested by departments that wish to use RamCT as a training tool for their employees.

  • All participants must be CSU faculty/staff/students who have a valid eID.
  • Departments must designate one person who is responsible for managing the section and enrollment.
  • Departments' cannot charge a fee to use a RamCT CSU Training Section.

You can request a CSU Training Section by sending an e-mail to ramctsupport@colostate.edu.
